What we do
We are a boutique Pilates and Movement studio in Salters St. George, Barbados and just as our Caribbean roots blends colors and cultures so does our movement. Our method blends a variety of movement techniques to help guide the breath, build strength, stability, and mobility, and relieve pain.
Lana
Lana A Sealy is the founder of Body Mekanix. She fuses movement principles into healthy, functional ways of using the body. She has over twenty years of Pilates experience and a passion for mindful movement, biomechanics, and bone health, and has movement experience in bone-related conditions such as scoliosis and osteoporosis.
Lana received her Yoga training from studying with Christy Punnett in Barbados, and her comprehensive Pilates Certification at the Kane School of Core Integration in New York, later becoming a Buff Bones Instructor.
She formerly taught dance at the Errol Barrow Centre of Creative Imagination at the University of the West Indies, Barbados, and danced with the Reparatory Understudy Group of the Merce Cunnigham Dance Company in New York. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Dance from the New World School of the Arts in Miami.
Amena
Amena Highland is our Fitness instructor who is a certified American College of Sports Medicine Personal trainer. Her expertise extends into an Exercise Lifestyle and Weight management consultant and a certified group instructor who has always been fascinated and inspired by fitness.
While Amena loves a friendly and carefree environment, she is a stickler for precision and thoroughly enjoys watching her clients build themselves up to experience that ‘ah ha moment’
